The One Thing I Forget to Say

This blog was intended to give writers a sense of direction. I attempt to honestly give my experiences within the writing world. But if I’m being honest, I forget to say a few things.

A few months back, I took a leap of faith, as did my editor/agent/publisher, Rosemi. We decided to give Mystic Waters life and a fighting chance. Thus started the publication of this book under Anterior Books.

But I noticed I have yet to really tell the world what I think of Anterior as well as what my experience has been like with them. This post is meant to remedy that.

Small publishing houses are not for everyone. Know that before going into the querying phase. There are pro’s and con’s to each type of publishing situation. Self-publishing might work better for someone who wants less hands in the cookie jar. A bigger publishing house can offer you better marketing with less money in your pocket.

Despite whatever con’s may come with small press, I have loved Anterior Books. They’ve given me freedom, which is ideal because I don’t have a lot of free time to meet deadlines. I am with the book every step of the way, which I need. The perfectionist in me needs it. Anterior took my dream and made it a reality.

Editing? I was in every aspect of that. Nothing was changed unless I signed off on it. The cover? I told them what I was looking for, we went back and forth with minor details and they executed. Anterior works so hard for me and with me and I am forever grateful for that.

If you are looking to get rich quickly, writing as a whole is not for you, let alone signing with a small publishing house. But I can tell you, I am blessed, fortunate, and favored to have been picked up by Anterior Books and I can’t wait for you all to see what we have in store for you with Chasing the Tide.

I think, a small part of me wanted to keep how awesome Anterior is to myself because I was keeping the world’s best kept secret. I wanted Anterior to myself! 😉 But they are currently accepting submissions, should your story be complete and edited (and AWESOME). And, as always, if you’re looking for an editor, contact Rosemi Mederos. I hear she’s pretty great.

Now playing You and Me by You+Me.

All my love,
Cynth
