As most of you know, November is National Novel Writing Month (nanowrimo.org) and the stakes are high! Writers are trying to knock out a novel by the end of November and I am sad to say that, although I had plans to participate, I will be unable to this year.
I’d like to think of myself as a writer. But I am not just that. I’m a Soldier first. So carving out time to write is hard enough without the expectation of finishing in one month. I’ve managed to write my first manuscript in 3 months and although I think that was quite fast, clearly it isn’t fast enough for NaNoWriMo. I’d like to stay on my current project because time is of the essence. You never know where tomorrow may lead. So I will be continuing on with the sequel, as well as editing my first novel once I receive feedback from my editor.
But next year I’ll be home and ready to go!
In other news, I am currently Skyping my parents as I’m typing. It is a little difficult as they require a lot of my attention but…sometimes I have to multi-task to keep everyone happy. There isn’t enough time in one day! My mom is sassy. She’s a strong-minded individual with a big heart. My dad is stern. But behind his bark, he’s just a big teddy bear.
Hope you all get a lot of writing done! I’ll be trying for 2,500 words tonight (currently at 1300).
P.S. Currently playing Rob Thomas – Her Diamonds.
All my love,
