I picture myself standing on a stage, the crowd waiting for me to start my act with bated breath. I’d walk up to the mic, tapping it and chuckling nervously, wiping my sweaty palms on my worn jeans; thinking to myself, this is it.
How about I go around the room and give everyone a cyber handshake. Firm grip you got there, guy. My name is Cynthia A. Rodriguez and I am a soldier in the United States Army, currently deployed in Afghanistan. Now, what I feel sets me aside from others is the fact that I’ve decided to write a book. Will it be published? I certainly hope so. Will I have doors slammed in my face? More often than not. But I am resilient. I will not be speaking about the concept of my manuscript quite yet, only to say that it revolves around mermaids. No, not The Little Mermaid (rolls eyes). See? I knew I should’ve kept it to myself.
I’m currently at 45,000 words. We shall call this Day 1.
I’ve read that having a blog is the thing to do in the writing world. I’d like to think of this as my very public diary, marking my successes and failures.
So please, take a seat and enjoy the show. I’m sure it’ll be quite a ride. Any questions?
